How to reply to "Thank you" in Vietnamese?

When someone thanks you, it's a good practice to respond in the language they speak. So when a a Vietnamese person says cám ơn, what should you respond?

In this lesson, we'll look at different ways to say You're welcome in Vietnamese.

Không có gì, Không có chi

Both of the expressions Không có gì, Không có chi mean "You're welcome".

Có gì đâu

In addition to saying Không có gì, you can also use Có gì đâu when Don’t mention it!

Rất vui khi được giúp bạn

If you don’t know a person well, you can say Rất vui khi được giúp bạn, which is equivalent to the English "I’m happy to help".

Don't forget to replace the pronoun tôi (for I) and bạn (for You) depending on your situation.

Rất hân hạnh

For a formal situations such as in the meetings or services, you can say "rất hân hạnh". It means "It's my pleasure".
